Green Smoothie - Recipe

This has consistently been on my breakfast menu for the past 7 years. The ingredients in this smoothie are all natural and filled with vitamins and antioxidants. Include this as part of your breakfast and be ready to face the world.


I prefer to use organic produce where ever possible for this smoothie since all the ingredients are used in their raw form.
Spinach – 2 cups
Ginger – 25 gms
Lemon – Juice of 1 lemon
Turmeric – 1 tsp (When fresh turmeric root is in season I use that instead)
Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Apple – medium sized
Banana – 1 small


Soak and wash all the ingredients thoroughly before you use them. Blend together chopped spinach, ginger, apple and banana in a blender with ice. Once well blended add the lemon juice, turmeric and pepper powder and give it another run in the blender. Pour into a tall glass and sip away.

Fats – 2 gm
Carbohydrates – 59 gm
Protein – 5 gm
(All approximate values)

*You could add a cup of almond milk to give it a creamier consistency.
*A tbsp of peanut butter or almond butter can also be added to increase the protein and fat content of the smoothie.
*You could also vary the fruits used depending on your taste.
The above alterations will change the macros and calories so calculate them accordingly.
